A scientific champion

Probably Fausto Coppi was the first racer who studied and applied dietetics and medecine to professional cycle racing.

He studied the works of some scientists of his age and strictly applied them.
In addition to this Coppi, sometimes, studied himself some improvement to these works and adapted them to the races and to his physique.

Fausto Coppi always applied diets carefully studied and he modified all the foods distribuited along the races, introducing in this way a more complete and rational diet, not only for himself but for all the racers of his time.

Doing this, Coppi became an example and improved the overall performances of the racers : in 15 years the average speeds increased more than 10 Km/h : this faster speed needed a better diet and , at the same time, a better diet means better performances for all.
